Capacity Building and communications : People are at the heart of our places, they make the world go round, so naturally, Urban Tapestry sees people as the drivers of business solutions. However, people need skills and continuous development to adapt to the demands of sustainability. Skills audit, is part of the process for designing solutions for successful operating partnerships, economic and physical projects.
Experience
Coaching and mentoring managers of the World Heritage Site in Vilnius and the Baltic States.
Redesigning the governance of the Old Town Regeneration Intervention.
Commissioning leadership and learning programmes for the North East to build capacity to deliver complex regeneration projects.
Designing Economic Development interventions for residents in the Old Town.
Aligned Professional Members in the North East to sign a joint MoU to deliver cross occupational CPD.

Creating Partnerships and making them work. Bringing people together for a common purpose is easy to do but the detail of making this work is a challenge.
Most partnerships perform best if there is a formal partnership agreement and structure. This can range from a simple written agreement to establishing a company as a special purpose vehicle (SPV). Both need to operate within their terms of reference (TOR)
My experience includes: creating a Partnership framework for a SPV – the Edinburgh Old Town Renewal Trust which had both a Board and three sub Committees to ensure that stakeholders were included. Establishing Ignite, the Regional Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Communities, procuring a Board through Nolan compliant principles and establishing a MoU to bring Professional Members together to invest in cross occupational CPD.

Client leadership is key to achieving the Vision. In many instances, the client is a group or partnership. Leadership requires the ability to communicate the vision throughout the organisation in order to achieve the ambition. The delegation of tasks is a given – so is the message inorder that the delivery teams are working to achieve the same ambition.
My experience includes: Providing leadership and enabling services through the Regional Centre of Excellence to address issues of excellence in commissioning and managing regeneration interventions. I am an Awards Judge in the North East for the RIBA and Constructing Excellence that identifies and cellebrates excellence in design and construction.

Stakeholder engagement: Stakeholders can be defined as the members of a partnership who come together to form ‘the commissioning client’; or the customers or beneficiaries of the investment; equally, the supply chain – providers of goods and services need to understand the client’s requirements.
Community Engagement is an essential part of the stakeholder tapestry, finding creative ways to communicate with this group can result in their potential to both inform and support regeneration proposals.
My experience includes: Stakeholder engagement and commissioned community capacity building training for both members and residents to build consensus.
